From Our Shelves to Their Hands: The Story of Books Over Borders

When school curricula change, countless textbooks go unused, but their value doesn’t disappear. Books Over Borders began with a simple question: what if our surplus could meet someone else’s need?

In partnership with a Superintendent from the Peel District School Board, we collected approximately 200 math, science, and English textbooks. Through Books For Africa, these books journeyed to Rwanda to help establish a new K–8 library, transforming outdated materials into new opportunities for learning and connection across continents.

This project is a great example of what happens when students come together to take small actions that create a major impact. Thank you to the team!
