Purpose begins with people.
At Newman Global Initiative, we are driven by a commitment to turn compassion into concrete action. Our student volunteers support causes ranging from mental health and addiction to food security, education, healthcare and other community needs.
Our journey began by helping a local community facing the burdens of addiction and mental health challenges. From those beginnings, our work has grown beyond borders, connecting young people with opportunities to learn, lead and serve.

What began as a local effort has developed into a broader commitment to communities around the world. NGI's goal is to extend its reach to every continent and leave a legacy of support in at least 25 countries by 2030.
The approach remains intentionally personal: identify a need, bring people together, and create a practical response that can make a meaningful difference.

The fundamental idea behind Newman Global Initiative is micro-impact: small, thoughtful acts that improve people's lives and can create a ripple effect far beyond the first act of support.
We believe meaningful change does not always require a massive program. A meal, a textbook, a conversation, a small grant or an hour of someone's time can become the beginning of something much larger.
Young people doing meaningful work.
NGI is powered primarily by high school and junior high students. They raise awareness, fundraise, volunteer, develop projects and build relationships with organizations serving communities locally and internationally.
The work gives students direct exposure to challenges involving health, education, food security and other areas of need while giving them the opportunity to respond with creativity, empathy and practical action.
