At the Newman Global Initiative, we are driven by a deep commitment to making a tangible difference and transforming our passion into concrete actions that foster positive micro-change worldwide. Inspired by the vision of a young changemaker, our dedicated team of student volunteers has selflessly devoted their time and energy to championing various global causes, from combating human trafficking to expanding access to food, education, and healthcare. Our journey began by uplifting a local community struggling with the burdens of addiction and mental health, but our mission of compassion knows no borders. Today, we are steadfast in our commitment to extend our reach to every continent, leaving an enduring legacy of support in at least 25 countries by the year 2030.
Through collaborative effort and creative problem solving, our dynamic team continuously seeks innovative solutions, sparks conversations that inspire, and transforms lives. To date, our team has directed over 545,000 dollars and approximately 5,700 hours of service to crucial areas such as health, education, and food security. We invite supporters from all walks of life to join us on this impactful journey as we work together to ignite a global movement of compassion, creating a world where every individual has the opportunity to flourish.
Currently, we are heavily invested in several key projects designed to address systemic barriers and provide immediate aid. Through The Bridging Mission, we connect underserved community members with qualified legal professionals for initial guidance, while partnering with law firms to secure pro bono representation for critical cases. On a local level, our Legends 29 initiative in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, provides hands-on help, food, and utility assistance to support local individuals and families during challenging times.
To dismantle educational and financial barriers, we have launched pioneering programs like the Hummingbird Platform and the Modesto Project. The Hummingbird Platform leverages empathetic, conversational artificial intelligence to enhance reading comprehension for students in grades one through five, children with special needs, and seniors who speak English as a second language. Meanwhile, the Modesto Project, also known as the Nano Fund, offers small, no-obligation micro-funds to support individuals, food programs, local businesses, and education. Because these micro-funds require no repayment, recipients are empowered to thrive without financial burden, while successful beneficiaries are welcomed to pay it forward to sustain a cycle of community-driven support.
What truly fuels our global mission is our diverse and expanding network of passionate advocates. Today, our international team includes student volunteers operating across the United States in New York, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Connecticut. Our North American reach extends into Canada with students in Toronto and Montreal. Beyond these borders, our global footprint thrives through dedicated members in Italy, Peru, Cambodia, India, Brazil, Zambia, Sri Lanka, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago.

The Team
The Newman Global team is composed primarily of passionate high school and junior high students dedicated to making a difference. These young leaders contribute in various ways, from raising awareness for important causes like Crohn’s disease and mental health to actively fundraising and volunteering their time with organizations such as Inspira and the Refugee & Immigrant Assistance Center. Their commitment to service exemplifies the power of youth to create positive change in their communities and beyond.

Our Philosophy
The fundamental principles that underpin the Newman Global Initiative revolve around making micro-impacts to improve people’s lives. The aspiration is that these small acts will generate momentum on a larger scale, creating a ripple effect of positive change that extends far beyond the initial act of kindness. Our core values are rooted in the belief that even the tiniest gestures of kindness and support can lead to significant positive changes in the world, empowering individuals and communities to thrive.

Initiatives
The team at Newman Global takes on initiatives at a small scale to foster conversations, raise awareness, and fund small projects. By exploring projects in various parts of the world, students gain valuable insights into the global challenges affecting areas like health, education, human trafficking, food, and water. This hands-on approach not only allows them to make a tangible impact but also broadens their understanding of the pressing issues faced by communities worldwide.
